SUMMARY:Roadmap to circularity for islands and rural communities
DESCRIPTION:Join Zero Waste Scotland in this session aimed at island and rural communities which addresses circularity in the Built Environment and Energy Infrastructure sector. \nCircular economy practices in both Scotland’s Built Environment (BE) and Energy Infrastructure sector\, have the potential to deliver social\, environmental and economic benefits by reducing emissions associated with infrastructure design and deployment; enhancing the strength of local supply chains by ensuring that materials and components are maintained at and restored to the highest level of value possible for as long as possible; and reducing our dependence on international supply chains for the supply of essential materials such as critical raw materials. \nZero Waste Scotland are currently developing sector specific roadmaps\, each of which will have a set of interventions designed specifically to address circularity in the Energy Infrastructure sector. A system thinking approach has been taken\, which has included the development of system maps for each sector. These maps tell us the most important factors influencing businesses in these sectors and we are looking for stakeholders to help identify the correct interventions to address these. This requires input from stakeholders across the economy who influence the sector including finance\, insurance\, public organisations\, skills and standards.

SUMMARY:Perthshire Talks Responsible Tourism: exploring different climate action themes
DESCRIPTION:Energy\, transport\, and waste comprise a substantial amount of global greenhouse gas emissions and will usually make up a considerable part of your footprint. Reducing these will be an essential step on your road to net zero. \nHowever\, measurement and reduction are only one part of the picture. Developing climate action around communicating\, influencing your customers or suppliers\, and adapting to climate change are equally as crucial on the road to net zero. \nIn this webinar\, we will explain the different climate action themes in our guide and what they mean for you and your business.

SUMMARY:Innovative Horizons: Exploring Floating Offshore Substations\, CCS Shipping\, Hydrogen\, and Flow Assurance
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by member company Crondall Energy and supported by Forth & Tay Offshore. \nWe are delighted to be bringing you an opportunity to attend focused technical topics that are crucial to delivering the UK’s net zero ambitions. \nThis session will look at; Developing practical solutions for floating offshore wind substations\, Opportunities and considerations for CO2 shipping\, maximising the efficiency of grid scale hydrogen production\, & CCS Transport and Storage Operational Challenges. \nYou can choose to attend two sessions out of the four available topics. More information on each topic: \n\nDeveloping practical solutions for floating offshore wind (FOW)\n\nAs developers venture further offshore and into deeper waters to harness wind power\, practical solutions are required for the transfer of power to shore. Floating and subsea substations are receiving a growing interest for floating offshore wind developments\, as they potentially provide a cost-competitive alternative to traditional fixed platforms. This presentation will provide an overview of the latest challenges and limitations associated with the transmission of power to shore. The different types of substations\, their key design features\, and their applicability will be presented. The current status of technology development will be outlined along with a discussion of the pros and cons of each approach. \n\nOpportunities and considerations for CO2 shipping\n\nCO2 shipping is being considered for an increasing proportion of CCS projects\, as a means of increasing sequestered volumes and therefore revenue. There are a multitude of ship designs and offloading concepts being considered with different offloading locations\, and pressure regimes. This presentation will provide an overview of the offloading options being considered and the opportunities of different pressure regimes \n\nMaximising the efficiency of grid scale hydrogen production\n\nCrondall Energy have recently completed a concept study focusing on developing the optimum grid scale hydrogen production facility\, considering the full envelop from electrical generation to by products and H2 production. This presentation will provide a holistic overview of the technical risks and opportunities for large scale hydrogen production directly from renewable sources. Presenting the key design decisions and considerations to maximise the efficiency of the complete H2 production system\, not just the electrolyser. \n\nCCS Transport and Storage Operational Challenges\n\nWe will discuss the main issues to be addressed in CCUS for pipeline CO2 transportation and operability considerations. Practical experience in developing associated solutions will also be presented. \nAgenda\n\n10:00 – 10:10 – Introduction and move to meeting rooms\n10:10 – 10:30 – Session 1\n10:30 – 10:35 – Transfer between rooms\n10:35 – 10:55 – Session 2\n10:55 – 11:00 – close out
