Expressions of Interest Now Open for Angus Big Ideas Workshop
Angus LEADER is encouraging young people who have a new business or social enterprise idea, or working on an established project that will benefit themselves and their local community, to attend the Angus Big Ideas Workshop held in Friockheim from 17 – 19 April.
The Big Ideas Workshops are a series of five innovative events in Angus, Perth and Kinross, Scottish Borders, Lanarkshire and the Outer Hebrides. Focused on developing participants’ leadership, enterprise and activism skills to help young people, aged 18-28, kick-start, or progress, a business, community or social enterprise idea.
Angus LEADER is one of five LEADER Action Groups (LAGs) supporting the Big Ideas Workshops which are part of a longer-term programme of the Rural Youth Project to reach out to all areas of Scotland and enable all young people to participate and become the next generation of rural leaders. The Rural Youth Project is supported by five LAGs – Angus, Lanarkshire, Outer Hebrides, Rural Perth and Kinross and the Scottish Borders.
Angus LEADER’s Dave Tollick said: “We are excited to see LEADER support delivered by Rural Youth Project to young people who want to live and work in the rural area. Bringing young people together can be the catalyst for their ambitions and ideas to take off.”
The first phase of the three-day residential workshop held at The Hub @ Friockheim will combine leading experts, inspiring speakers, practical business visits and a formal mentoring programme.
The Angus workshop will be free-of-charge to attend including catering, two nights’ accommodation at The Burn, and reimbursed delegate travel.
The workshop’s second phase will bring delegates together the day before the 2020 Ideas Festival in July, hosted in the Scottish Borders, with the opportunity for participants to pitch their idea, showcasing their new skills, to a panel of experienced business leaders and industry professionals.
Rural Youth Project Director, Jane Craigie, encouraged young people, no matter what stage their idea or project is in, to attend the workshop.
“From coffee caravans to grassroots community initiatives, the Big Ideas Workshops will help provide direction, support and inspiration to new and existing projects that will positively impact the local Angus community.”
