Regional Culture and Tourism Investment Programme
Tourism is one of the major industries in the Tay Cities Region. There are an estimated 1,580 businesses in the tourism industry here (12% of Scotland’s total). The industry employs 22,000 people (approximately 11% of all jobs in the area).
The Scottish Government will invest up to £37m to support a Regional Culture and Tourism Investment Programme that will invest in key economic assets in culture and tourism. This investment will help to build on world-class locations such as St Andrews, Gleneagles and the new V&A in Dundee.
The Regional Culture and Tourism Investment Programme will invest in a wide range of assets to ensure that the entire region can continue to develop its national and international visitor offering.
Projects that have been selected will:
- ensure the region can deliver an uplift in the number of staying visitors
- help increase the average length of stay
- increase the amount spent per visitor
The projects receiving funding were put forward as part of the Programme development.
