How Invest in Angus helped Fallones Pizza & Gelato double down on deliciousness
If you’ve been to a large event in Angus, or even just enjoyed a sunny day at Monifieth beachfront, chances are you’ve seen (and probably smelled!) the deliciousness wafting from Fallones Pizza & Gelato. Since 2017, they’ve been serving up incredible woodfired Neapolitan pizza and other Italian street food treats like cannoli and focaccia sandwiches from their two charming vintage horseboxes. And let’s not forget the gelato, served from their equally charming vintage ice-cream tricycle!
Fallones isn’t just about amazing food; they’re also a fantastic local employer, providing part-time work for many young people, including a full-time modern apprentice chef. Beyond their street food presence, they’ve built a great reputation for wedding catering, offering everything from antipasti platters to pasta dishes. In 2024 alone, they had over 40 wedding bookings – that’s a lot of happy couples and even happier guests!
With demand for their food soaring, Fallones needed more space. So, in 2025, they made a big move to a larger business unit, significantly expanding their production facility. Angus Council’s SME Start & Grow Grant helped cover the costs of fitting out their new commercial production kitchen, essentially allowing them to double their production capacity and keep that incredible growth going.
Owner Michael Fallone was really pleased with the support, saying: “The grant application was a very fast and efficient process. I am delighted to have my business based in Angus and to have ongoing business support.”
Thanks to these improved production and storage facilities, Fallones is projecting a 100% increase in wholesale turnover. Their vacuum-sealed, part-fired, heat-at-home pizzas are already a hit in seven farm shops, with about 250 pizzas delivered every week. With their new, larger facilities, they’re hoping to double their retail outlets in 2025, meaning even more opportunities to enjoy a taste of Fallones at home.

The Angus Council SME Start & Grow Business Grants were funded by the UK Government Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF). Grants were delivered by Angus Council’s Invest in Angus team, supported by Business Gateway.
