Carnoustie Business Park Extension Approved
The chairman of Angus firm DJ Laing has expressed his delight at securing planning permission to expand its business park in Carnoustie.
The firm has already completed the first phase of Victoria Green Business Park, with currently 15 tenants in place.
Now, planning consent has been approved for more buildings for its development on the western edge of the town.
It has permission for a large building, measuring 10,850sq ft, that will be split into three units.
A carpet manufacturer and a gym will occupy two of the larger units. The third tenant remains unconfirmed. This is expected to be completed by December 2026.
Meanwhile, it also has permission to build a further six starter units and two small business units with projected completion by June 2026.
It is the next step in the multi-million-pound project which has also seen hundreds of new homes built.
Chairman David Laing, said Victoria Green Business Park is expected to generate around £20 million of investment for the area.
He said: “Victoria Green isn’t just a business park. It’s a catalyst for sustainable growth in Carnoustie and Angus.
“The full occupancy of the first phase speaks volumes about the business confidence.
“These expansions show real intent to make Angus a go-to destination for businesses.”
The application for the large building states it will be “divided into three units, intended to accommodate a carpet manufacturer, a gym and a third tenant (use currently unconfirmed)”. It adds: “The gym element of the proposal has explored alternative locations in the area, including those closer to the High Street, but suitable sites have not been identified.
“This site presents a strong opportunity, offering good pedestrian and cycle access, ample parking provision and proximity to existing and planned residential developments.”
There will be parking for around 35 cars.
DJ Laing said the Victoria Green project was the result of 15 years of hard work to bring modern industrial units and commercial premises to the location.
The plans for the project have been developed with Voigt Partnership.
The park sits in a strategic location, adjacent to the A92 and only a few minutes away from Dundee.
The majority of tenants at Victoria Green Business Park are local firms with some looking to move to larger units on site to grow their teams.
