Big promotion for Forfar-based rural tax expert

Rural tax expert Nicola Sargeant has been promoted to director in the Forfar office of Scottish accountancy giant Johnston Carmichael (JC).

Nicola gained her initial accountancy qualifications at Abertay University.

She joined JC’s tax team in April 2018 after spells at Henderson Loggie and Findlays.

She added: “It reflects the importance of rural advisory within Johnston Carmichael and strength of the team around me.

“I am committed to building our rural tax offering, supporting clients through complex tax and succession challenges, and helping them achieve long-term success in an evolving sector.”

Jenn Stewart, partner and head of rural at the firm, said: “Nicola’s promotion reflects her deep expertise and the strategic importance of our rural tax advisory services.

“She is a trusted adviser to clients and a real champion of rural businesses.

“Her expertise and practical insight are helping to shape our rural tax team and the services we provide across Scotland, and it’s been a pleasure to see her influence grow within the firm.”

Nicola’s promotion forms part of a wider programme of senior appointments at the Aberdeen-headquartered company.

This includes two new partners and an additional five new directors.

Staff in audit, restructuring, business support, private client tax, corporate finance and VAT roles have also been promoted.
