Angus Duo on British Kebab Awards Shortlist

Dave Doogan MP has congratulated two Angus food outlets after being shortlisted for the British Kebab Awards 2021.

The ninth annual awards have 17 categories, and the kebab industry supports around 200.000 jobs in the UK.

Dino’s Pizza in Montrose and Best Kebab and Pizza House in Arbroath are both semi-finalists in the Best Kebab House in Scotland category for the 2021 awards.

The Arbroath eatery will be hoping to retain the crown it won last year.

Mr Doogan said: “I would like to congratulate both Dino’s Pizza in Montrose and Best Kebab and Pizza House in Arbroath for making it to the semi-finals of these prestigious awards.

“It was a huge honour to join Best Kebab Arbroath owners Ali and Ozkan at the ceremony in London last year where they lifted the trophy in the Scotland category and took it home to Arbroath.

“I have enjoyed Best Kebab’s wonderful food and just as soon as I can I will be calling in at Dino’s in Montrose to sample their offer and wish them all the best in the competition too.

“The kebab awards are a great opportunity for shops like ours here in Angus to show their ability and to participate on a national level in a respected competition.”

The winners will be chosen by a large panel of judges along with a public vote.

Voting is now open on the British Kebab Awards website and the winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on October 26.

Ibrahim Dogus, founder of the British Kebab Awards, said: “The kebab has now firmly established itself as a Great British restaurant and takeaway favourite.

“This year’s long list demonstrates its even-greater diversity, with more entries than ever before and a wider range of variations from different restaurants and takeaways across the UK.

“From twists on the classics, to new vegan varieties, we are proud to celebrate one of the nation’s best loved industries as it continues to grow in new and exciting ways.

“After such a challenging year of Covid lockdowns, the ceremony will also give staff who work in the industry a chance to celebrate.
