Dundee and Angus College Hosts Tayside Engineering Network Annual Dinner
Laura Barclay, Materials Engineer at Baker Hughes GE, was the guest speaker at the recent well attended Tayside Engineering Network (TEN) Annual Dinner. Laura provided an update on the changes going ahead with the company and the exciting investment currently ongoing in Montrose.
She also went into more depth about the opportunities to link design, engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and services into one intelligent system. A digital thread connects engineering with the factory floor, supply chain and distribution which can enable and optimise processes, combining physics and analytics to ensure good quality and efficiency.
Laura spoke enthusiastically about her career development and experience with the company, along with the future of engineering, including diversity, advance manufacturing, diverse material selection, robotics and automation. The company work hard to engage with the community and in particular deliver a number of programmes of work to raise awareness of engineering as a career including; GirlsGetSet, Go STEM and the ABC Initiative.
The event was held at the Arbroath Campus of Dundee and Angus College where Catering and Hospitality Students provided an outstanding menu and service throughout the evening.
