Jam Side Up for Owen
Owen Foster received a special recognition prize in the NFU Mutual and Scotland Food & Drink Inspirational Young Person Award.
Owen, of Owen’s Angus Jams, based in Forfar was selected for his dedication, talent and contribution to the food and drink industry.
As part of the Year of Young People, the award was designed to ensure that young people aged between 16 and 26, who are helping the food and drink industry to thrive, are recognised for their efforts.
Using local produce and his grandmother’s recipe, Owen makes and sells jams, raising sums of cash for charity with each sale. This caught the eye of the judges who felt they had to introduce a special prize in recognition for his ingenuity.
The young entrepreneur plans to continue supplying Glamis Castle Gift Shop and other local outlets while studying business management full time at college.
His prize was presented by Margaret Hebbourn the senior NFU Mutual agent based in Perth.
