Mackie Motors Provide Electric Cars to VAA

Angus garage firm Mackie Motors has upped its support for Voluntary Action Angus by supplying the group with two new electric cars.

The vehicles will be supplied free to the third sector organisation for the next six months to help distribute goods safely and with low running costs to volunteers and those self-isolating.

Mackie Motors managing director Kevin Mackie, said: “We’ve been supporting Voluntary Action Angus for a number of years and as their work to support our community during the Covid-19 pandemic intensifies, it’s a pleasure to announce that in partnership with MG Motor UK, we have supplied them with two brand new fully electric MG ZS EV cars.”

The company operates dealerships in Brechin and Arbroath.

VAA has recruited a group more than 1,000-strong to support the local effort.

The new volunteers are being rapidly trained and supported to undertake deliveries of food and prescriptions, telephone befriending and other roles.

VAA chief executive Gary Malone said: “We have a fantastic, longstanding relationship with Mackie’s, who have supplied us with several Nissan Leafs, as well as maintenance of our Renault Trafic van.”
