No Sweat with Locals Thrilled at Gym Refurb
Angus Alive has unveiled its revamped fitness suite at Webster’s Sports Centre in Kirriemuir after an £80,000 upgrade.
And leisure chiefs hope the new-look gym will spur on locals in their get-fit resolution for 2026.
The Webster’s refurbishment also marks the completion of a near £1 million investment in Angus Alive gyms.
All seven of its fitness suites across the area have been improved.
Webster’s High School S4 pupil Ava Bell, Scotland Women’s Cricket Under-15 international, cut the ribbon at Saturday’s official opening.
The teenager said: “Being a local pupil, I walk past the gym every day and we can see such a change in the environment since the refurbishment.
“The lights, equipment and atmosphere are totally different.”
Key improvements include the latest gym equipment from Life Fitness and Indigo Fitness.
It features cardio and fixed resistance machines, multi-functional training rigs, colour-coded training zones and enhanced audio and visual solutions.
The redeveloped space also incorporates the latest technology from Myzone, an accurate fitness tracker and online social platform.
Colin Knight of Angus Alive said: “We are incredibly proud to officially reopen Webster’s Sports Centre fitness suite following this major refurbishment.
“We know how popular our other refurbished fitness suites have been and hope Kirriemuir community enjoy it.
“There’s been a huge difference in the space and of course, with it being January, there’s never been a better time to try.”
Angus Alive said its bActive membership programme is currently at a record high of more than 10,500 people across the district.
The Kirrie centre is open Monday to Friday 9am to 9pm and Saturday 8am to 2.30pm.
