Scottish Thistle Awards on the Small Screen

A new advert featuring some of the winners from Scotland’s premier tourism and events awards will air on STV in July 2023.

The 30-second advert will promote the Scottish Thistle Awards and shine a spotlight on best practice in responsible tourism in Scotland.

The advert features footage and interviews with recent winners from the 2022/23 National Final of the Scottish Thistle Awards.

For finalists and winners, the Scottish Thistle Awards can help raise the profile of their operation, enhance staff morale and provide recognition for their achievements.

By winning a Scottish Thistle Award, tourism businesses join a prestigious roll of honour, earning recognition as one of the best in the country and gaining support to maximise the opportunity and support responsible tourism growth.

The advert will make its debut during Loose Women at around 12.45pm on Monday 3 July. It will also air during the following programmes:

  • Coronation Street, 8.30pm Monday 3 July
  • The Chase, 5.30pm Tuesday 4 July
  • Emmerdale, 7.30pm Wednesday 5 July
  • For Your Eyes Only, 4.30pm Sunday 7 July

Best Luxury Experience

Best Eatery Experience

The category celebrates restaurants and eateries that provide an exceptional customer experience and a quality food and drink offering, promoting local Scottish produce. WeeCOOK was established in 2011 by head chef and owner Hayley Wilkes, a former sous chef in Gandolfi Fish. Based at Barry Down park, WeeCOOK Kitchen has built a strong reputation for great food and friendly atmosphere, with particular notoriety for its award-winning pies. Hayley describes winning a Scottish Thistle Award as a “validation” for the hard work of the team at WeeCOOK Kitchen.

This award celebrates businesses that provide unforgettable, quality and authentic experiences to their visitors who engage with the landscape and local communities in a positive and environmentally sensitive way. Wild Discovery offers diverse wildlife watching experiences in and around Aberdeenshire, the Cairngorms and further afield, with a focus on connecting people with nature in a fun, engaging and sustainable manner. Owners Dan and Rachel Brown talk about the “positive” step for their business in winning a Scottish Thistle Award.
