Smithies Marks Two Decades in Business
Smithies Deli in Arbroath celebrated 20 years trading in the West Port Village area of the town this month.
They originally operated at a cafe with seating for approximately 30 customers. However due to the pandemic restrictions they had to adapt quickly into an off-licence, takeaway and delivery service selling pantry items.
Owner Patti Smith said: “Lately we have had phone calls from ex-pats in America, Canada, Australia, Spain and the Netherlands to deliver presentation hampers to cheer up family members housebound here, in and around Arbroath. In one weekend we delivered no less than 127 cheese boxes.”
At any one time Smithies has over 200 varies flavoured gins in stock, and their cheese selection is plentiful and delicious. They currently have two large £70 hampers to be won in a raffle, one through their Facebook page, and the other hamper through shop customers.
Smithies Deli, which is open three days a week, Thursday to Saturday, hope once the pandemic is over to re-open their seating area and have a proper 21 year celebration in 2021.
