V&A Effect Sees Tourism Rise in Angus

Visitor numbers to several attractions within Angus have increased substantially, up to almost 30%, on the back of the opening of the V&A Museum on Dundee’s waterfront in autumn last year.

While Scotland as a whole only saw a rise of 0.1%, Angus saw Arbroath Abbey up by 18%, House of Dun up by 29%, Barry Mill up by 14% and JM Barrie’s Birthplace in Kirriemuir up by 4%, according to figures released by the Association of Scottish Visitor Attractions (ASVA).

Gordon Morrison, chief executive of ASVA, stated: “Although full year figures for V&A Dundee will not be later until later in 2019, we already have an idea of the impact this world class attraction has had in Dundee since opening.  The outlook for the attractions sector in the city and surrounding area looks to be extremely rosy going forward.”
