15 January 2022, 8:00 am - 23 January 2022, 5:00 pm
The Scottish Chamber of Commerce international network is pleased to invite applications from Scottish businesses to a trade mission to Dubai Expo focusing on clean energy and climate change.
Running from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022, Expo 2020 Dubai is the first World Expo ever hosted in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia region.
It will welcome more than 25million visitors and 190 countries with a stated aim of hosting a World Expo that inspires people by showcasing the best examples of collaboration, innovation and cooperation from around the world.
Key Sector Opportunities:
Having turned its world-leading engineering skills to green energy, Scottish businesses can benefit from the strong sustainability theme that runs through the whole event. Some of the world’s most advanced technology is on show, which makes it the ideal stage for Scottish technical innovation.
With Scotland hosting COP26 in November 2021, we know there are a range of stories to be told which will be enlightening and surprising for a general public hungry for solutions to the climate change emergency.
Scotland is home to the world’s first floating offshore windfarm and one of Europe’s largest hydrogen bus fleets and a new power plant at Peterhead is the world’s first gas-fired power station equipped with carbon capture storage (CCS) technology to capture up to 1.5 million tonnes of CO2 every year; 15% of the UK’s target by 2030.
The UK Pavilion will be hosting Scotland’s Race to Net Zero Day on January 19 and the World Future Energy Summit is being held in Abu Dhabi from January 17-19, making it the ideal time for businesses shifting from fossil fuels to take part in the delegation.
Businesses that would benefit from participating include renewable energy, low carbon heat, low carbon transport, offshore wind, blue and green hydrogen and oil & gas transition.
A week of activities is being organised for the delegation, along with some free time for delegates to attend Dubai Expo and the World Future Energy Summit.
