What if the biggest story about unsold goods is not the waste, but the opportunities we are missing?
Join organisations from across Scotland to explore the hidden value of unsold goods, hear the findings from our latest research, and discuss the role product stewardship could play in what comes next.
This interactive 90-minute webinar will explore a new series of research reports looking at why products go unsold, what businesses currently do with them and what could help prevent more useful items from going to waste.
From clothing and furniture to electronics, beauty products and household items, valuable products can go unsold, be returned or remain unused, resulting in lost economic value and missed opportunities. Our research explores where surplus occurs, the barriers to prevention, and opportunities to retain more value within Scotland’s economy.
The webinar will build on this research, bringing people together to explore what the findings mean in practice and where there may be opportunities to prevent avoidable waste, support circular business models and keep more products in use for longer.
The session will be hosted by Zero Waste Scotland with partners Resource Futures, Nicki Souter Associates and Circular Communities Scotland. It will explore the research’s findings, opportunities and barriers across different sectors, followed by a panel discussion focused on ‘what can we do now’.
