Recent changes to the Immigration Rules clarify that seafarers working within a 12-mile radius of the UK shore (also known as UK territorial waters) are subject to immigration control. These changes clarify that most non-British and non-Irish citizens working on vessels within UK territorial waters must have permission to do so before beginning work.
