Dundee’s Kerr’s Dairy teams up with Angus firm for coffee doorstep delivery
Dundee milk delivery firm Kerr’s Dairy has launched a new partnership with Angus coffee company Maison Dieu as the family business launches its new customer app.
Customers can now order Brechin-roasted coffee beans direct to their door with the morning milk.
The Dundee delivery firm already counted Maison Dieu — which has coffee shops in Brechin and Broughty Ferry — as one of their biggest customers. So a partnership between the two seemed a “natural fit”, Kerr’s boss Kelvin Jr told The Courier.
It coincides with the launch of Kerr’s customer app, giving customers even easier options for delivery.
Kerr’s Dairy has operated in Dundee for more than 125 years, founded in 1900 as the Balfield Farm Dairy, using horse-drawn carts to make the morning rounds every morning.
It has undergone a modernisation and expansion programme in the last five years, seeing 100,000 bottles of milk delivered a week across Tayside, Fife and the north-east. Part of this has been expanding the delivery offering, which includes rock salt in winter, strawberries in summer and now Maison Dieu coffee.
Maison Dieu was founded by Scotland international John Souttar, his brother Harry, partner Kayley and former Dundee United player Euan Spark in 2021. It runs a wholesale coffee roasting unit in Brechin, as well as its two retail shops.
Kelvin said the launch of their new app would allow customers to give feedback what they want delivered with alongside their milk.
“We deliver to Maison Dieu, supplying their shops with milk, and we really like their ethos,” Kelvin says. “They really focus on quality, they are a good customer of ours too, and Euan and the team are really good people. So working in partnership with them felt like a natural fit. Milk and coffee go really well together.
“This month we soft-launched our app and offering this new delivery option for Maison Dieu coffee is part of expanding on what we do and making things more modern for our customers. We’re working constantly on our app, which is a progression of our Your Moo customer portal which works on our website. This includes giving our customers the chance to feedback to us what they’d like to see delivered on a regular basis.”
