Beaches across Tayside and Fife have been rated among the best in the country in Scotland’s Beach Awards.

Keep Scotland Beautiful has revealed the recipients of the 2026 awards ahead of the summer season.

Each beach receiving an award will have a flag displaying the accolade.

A total of 52 beaches across Scotland are on this year’s list, with Fife retaining its title as the region with the most awards.

Lunan Bay, just south of Montrose, has received the award for the 10th consecutive year.

Some of the beaches in Tayside and Fife, including St Andrews West Sands and Montrose, have received the awards for decades.

The recipients of the awards in Tayside, as well as the number of years they have received them, are listed below:

  • Lunan Bay – 10 years
  • Montrose – 23 years
  • Arbroath – 17 years
  • Carnoustie – 21 years
  • Monifieth – 16 years
  • East Haven – 11 years
  • Broughty Ferry – 23 years

Barry Fisher, CEO at Keep Scotland Beautiful, said:

“Scotland’s Beach Awards are the benchmark for quality, celebrating clean, well-managed and sustainable beaches.

“Our award-winning beaches are all beautiful, but seeing that flag flying means visitors can be assured that they are being looked after for people and nature.

“It is amazing to see the consistency of standards and continuation of award status matters to those who apply year after year.

“I’d like to thank all those, in councils and communities, who do so much to protect, maintain and enhance our beaches, protecting the sand and sea for us all to enjoy.

“We’re always looking for new beaches to join the award network, so if you think yours meets the standards, please do get in touch with us for support.”
