Dundee sports bar set to open new venue in Forfar

A Dundee sports bar is set to open a new venue in Forfar.

McGurty’s Sports Bar and Diner is looking to take over the former Original Factory Shop building on the corner of Castle Street and Lochside Road.

There is already a McGurty’s bar in Douglas in Dundee.

New signage has been erected at the unit, although an exact opening date is still to be confirmed.

A social media post confirmed the new venue will have British and American pool tables, a diner, an arcade area, darts alleys, live sports shown and a varied choice of refreshments.

The post said: “Something big is coming to Forfar.

“We’re excited to announce that McGurty’s Sports Venue & Diner Forfar will be opening its doors soon.

“Whether you’re looking for a bit of friendly competition, a bite to eat, somewhere to watch the big game or take the kiddies, we’ll have something for everyone.

“Bring the family, meet up with friends, challenge someone to a game, grab some food and enjoy the atmosphere.”

The announcement was met with enthusiasm by locals.

One commented that the new venue would be “superb for Forfar”.

Another said it was “great news for the town”, while someone else added that it was “great to see a closed building so quickly repurposed”.
