Jamie Scott announces closure of Newport Bakery and teases new Arbroath cafe
Jamie Scott has confirmed the closure of Newport Bakery in Arbroath, and has teased a new cafe opening in its place.
On Wednesday morning, the MasterChef winner revealed that the bakery had closed after five years in operation.
In the same announcement, he revealed the name of his new venture, Bite.
In a statement on the Newport Bakery Facebook page, he said:
“The Newport Bakery has now closed, and a new chapter begins at our Arbroath shop Bite.
“We’re refocusing on lunch, coffee and catering.
“Thank you to everyone who supported the bakery.
“We look forward to welcoming familiar faces and new customers to Bite.”
Bite will open in the unit previously occupied by Newport Bakery on the town’s Guthrie Port.
Although an opening date has not been confirmed, an Instagram page for the cafe is advertising its soft launch.
An image of a menu has also been shared, with options including breakfasts, sandwiches and baked potatoes set to be on offer.
Bite will be open Wednesday to Saturday from 9am until 3pm.
Last year, Jamie sold three of his Newport Bakery shops to Perthshire firm Ballintaggart.
All three stores closed in August.
