Cafe takeover sees evening meals offered
New evening dining and entertainment is being promised as a well-known Dundee businessman and publican takes over a popular Forfar cafe.
Graham Bradley, who runs the Craigie and the Albert bars in Dundee, has taken over the lease of the former Mill cafe just off the A90.
Mr Bradley also recently took over the St Michael’s Inn near Leuchars, which was burnt to the ground in April just two months after it reopened following a £25,000 refurbishment.
He plans to reopen the venue at some point in the future.
In the meantime he has exciting plans for The Mill, to be known now as Lochlands Mill Bar and Restaurant.
Mr Bradley’s business manager, Janine Plummer, said one of the main changes they are making is offering evening meals from Thursday to Sunday. Previously, the cafe and restaurant have only been open during the day.
Ms Plummer said:
“As of September 6, we will be opening in the evening, offering traditional bar meals.
“We will be open seven days a week offering breakfast, lunch and afternoon teas.
“We will have a wellstocked bar and will also be having entertainment on Saturday nights.”
She said that no refurbishment has taken place at the venue, but both main dining areas will be fully utilised. The outside courtyard area will also be used by customers.
She added: “Our aim is to attract locals and those who stay at the adjacent caravan park.”
Ms Plummer said the venue would also be dog friendly.
Mr Bradley reopened the Albert Bar in Stobswell, Dundee, last year after a £30,000 makeover.
He also revamped the former Cutty Sark bar on Kingsway East in 2022, renaming it the Craigie Bar.
In January last year, he revealed plans to create a speakeasy-style cocktail bar in the former RBS building on Brook Street, Broughty Ferry.
However, his plans for that have been refused twice by Dundee City Council, which says the development does not conform to Dundee’s local development plan.
