Event Description

When you’re starting a business, how do you focus your efforts on finding your first customers?

In this Masterclass, we’ll look at a practical approach to getting your first customers through targeted sales and relationship building. Helping you build a network from scratch and turning those relationships into your first sales.

We’ll start by looking at why broad outreach through social media, answering queries on forums, or direct outreach can be useful for finding potential early adopters, but is often difficult to sustain.

From there, we’ll explore an “hourglass” approach to customer acquisition: starting broad enough to find the people who are genuinely interested in what you’re doing, then narrowing your focus to build a close, tight-knit network around those early customers.

By engaging with them, learning from them and developing stronger relationships, you can begin to create your own niche, community around your business.

Once that foundation is strong enough, you can widen your reach again and use what you’ve learned to scale your marketing and customer acquisition more effectively.

By the end of the session, you’ll understand why early-stage founders should begin with a sales-first rather than marketing-first mindset, and why customer acquisition ultimately depends on three things: Trust, Timing and Awareness.

You’ll also explore what networks really are and why they matter, learn a different way of thinking about marketplaces, and leave with a practical framework for finding early adopters. Using this approach you can build your early customer network piece by piece, and collaborate with them to unlock your first sales and create the foundations for sustainable growth.

This session is ideal for aspiring entrepreneurs, early-stage founders and small business owners who need to find their first customers or want to build a stronger foundation before investing heavily in marketing.
