First 10 job roles for project’s operational phase now open

A recruitment drive has started for the operational phase of the flagship Scottish offshore wind farm Inch Cape with applications open for 10 new local job roles today.

The North Sea wind farm is 15 kilometres from the Angus coast and will be operated out of a brand-new £6.5 million facility which is now under construction in the Port of Montrose.

More than 50 new full-time positions will be needed to operate and maintain the wind farm which is due to be fully operational next year. This includes roles both direct with Inch Cape and with turbine supplier Vestas, which has a service warranty agreement for maintenance of the turbines offshore.

This first tranche of positions direct with Inch Cape includes several engineering roles, health & safety, control room and management positions. The roles will primarily be office based or hybrid working with offshore visits undertaken when required from crew transfer vessels which transit to the site daily.

Inch Cape Project Director John Hill said the roles will be key to the project’s long-term success once in operation, with the project itself representing a significant boost for the local area.

“Inch Cape is a world class gigawatt scale project and these roles provide a great opportunity for people to contribute to its success while gaining experience and developing their offshore wind careers with leading players in the industry.”

Several external providers will also be required to support the project during its lifetime, with contracts for initial goods and service requirements going out later in the year, ensuring positive local economic benefits.

The specific roles now being sought are: HSE, contracts & commercial, control room, and engineering managers; wind turbine generator, foundations & balance of plant, HV electrical and SCADA/communications engineers; planner/co-ordinator and performance lead.

Vacancy notices for these first roles are now live on the project’s website, on job boards and Linkedin, with applications due by mid-August and start dates from the autumn.

Anyone interested in the roles can find out more on the project’s vacancies page on the website.

Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm is owned in a 50/50 equal joint venture between ESB and Red Rock Renewables.
