Brae of Angus Second Public Consultation Event – Invitation

The Angus Land Company (ALC) is delighted to invite you to our second public consultation event on proposals for an exciting mixed-use hotel, golf, leisure and residential development at Shank of Omachie.

Located to the north and east of Wellbank, Brae of Angus will create a new world-class destination, including a five-star Hyatt hotel – the first five-star hotel in Angus – with global marketing company IMG managing the golf business, events, and wider leisure offerings.

The ALC recently acquired the land previously subject to planning permission for a hotel, golf, leisure, and residential development.

The company is now starting a new planning and consultation process for a similar proposal to deliver a high-quality new development for international brand operators. Classed under planning legislation as a ‘major ‘application and, as such, this will be subject to two formal public consultation events, the first of which took place on Monday, 27th April 2026.

This second event gives you the opportunity to further shape our updated proposals, incorporating feedback from the first public consultation event where appropriate. It will also address key issues raised.

The event will be held as follows:

  • Where: Wellbank Village Hall 3a Kellas Rd Wellbank DD5 3PE
  • When: Wednesday 3rd June 2026.
  • Between 2pm and 7pm

Please feel free to come along and meet the new developers and operators, as well as members of the design team who can answer any questions you may have.

Background:

Brae of Angus, which covers approximately 310 acres, represents one of the most significant tourism and leisure investments in Scotland in recent years. With an investment of approximately £480 million, it will create considerable local employment opportunities during both construction and operation.

The Brae of Angus development site is subject to historic planning permissions, dating back to 2010, for a major hotel, golf, and residential development.

This proposed development will include:

  • Hotel, four-bed luxury lodges and corporate and fractional-ownership lodges. On-site staff accommodation will also be provided.
  • 18-hole championship golf course, golf academy and training facility.
  • Golf club including a restaurant and bar facilities.
  • Country club, including a gym, padel courts and swimming pools.
  • Modern spa and an events area.
  • Mainstream and affordable housing integrated with Wellbank.

The local community will be able to access shared leisure facilities through a preferential membership scheme. The housing component is key to the ongoing success of the project, with the proceeds from this to be reinvested to cross-fund and support the tourist-focused elements, including the hotel, golf, and broader resort development.

You can make comments on the proposals at the public event, via the project website using the feedback form, or by email and post, as outlined below.

Comments should be received no later than Wednesday, 24th June 2026.

Comments made at this stage do not constitute representations to Angus Council as the planning authority.

A further opportunity to make representations to the Council will be available following formal submission of the planning application.
