Forfar car showroom reopens after a £280k ‘transformation’

A well-known Angus car dealership has undergone a £280,000 refurbishment.

Glenford in Forfar, home to Ford for almost 40 years, changed to a Jeep and Leapmotor franchise at the end of last year.

In April this year, the showroom closed for major renovation work to “modernise” the site. Customers were welcomed back into the new and improved space this week.

The glass frontage of the showroom was replaced and a suspended ceiling and new lighting was installed. State-of-the-art media walls have been installed inside, as well as three new offices. The old front desk was removed and there is a new customer coffee lounge and service area.

To provide customers with an enhanced buying experience, there is also a dedicated vehicle handover bay. Staff will use the space to give people a tour of their new vehicle and technology demonstration before they drive away.

Franchise manager Gordon Malcolm said:

“This was a major project that saw the showroom stripped right back to the brick.

“It has all been about enhancing the customer experience and creating a modern, welcoming space.

“It was important to us to bring the showroom up to the standard people expect from Jeep and Leapmotor.

“We are particularly pleased with the new handover bay, which is already proving popular with customers.”

He added:

“We have a loyal customer base in Angus and a lot have moved over from Ford vehicles to the new brands we sell.

“We hope that the refurbishment will help attract new customers.”

As well as the upgrade, the dealership now offers servicing for a greater number of car brands. As well as Ford, Jeep and Leapmotor, Glenford technicians will be able to offer maintenance and servicing for Vauxhall, Peugeot and Citroen vehicles.

Gordon believes widening the offering could increase service revenue by up to 25%.

Angus firm AM Phillip Trucktech acquired the Glenford dealership, which employs 25 staff, last year. Ford had committed to leaving the site prior to the sale.

The nearest Jeep and Leapmotor dealerships were in Perth and Aberdeen, so AM Phillip spotted a “gap in the market”.
